God Loves Him Because He is Lovable

This rich man (from Luke 18) is not interested in God. He is interested in doing the right rules perfectly. He wants to test Jesus not try to know him, not depend on Him. The one thing the rich man doesn’t realize, the one thing he doesn’t have on board, is the fact that God is already loving him. Already God loves him – not because he keeps all the commandments but because he is lovable.

And Who is My Neighbor?

If They Do Not Hear Moses and the Prophets…

If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead. We are told 7 times in the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom to “attend.” Being attentive is the constant call of our Lord Jesus Christ. “He who has ears to hear let him hear!” It is the right time to open our ears.It is the right timeto listen.

Lectio Divina

From the earliest accounts of monastic practice – dating back to the fourth century – it is evident that a form of reading called lectio divina (“divine” or “spiritual reading”) was essential to any deliberate spiritual life. What is it? How can we do it?
